This page covers the Breed Scanner at this address. It is short because the tool collects very little.
Your photo
The photo you scan is processed in memory, sent to our vision provider to produce the breed estimate, and discarded. We do not write it to disk, we do not keep a copy, and nobody at PetLovers ever sees it. We keep a mathematical fingerprint of the file (a hash) so that scanning the identical photo twice returns the saved result instead of running a second analysis. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into the photo.
What we keep
The scan result: the breed estimate, coat type, shedding profile, and the dog’s name if you entered one. Each result has a random link address so you can return to it. We also keep anonymous usage events (a scan started, a result was viewed) tied to a random session identifier, and a salted hash of your network address used only to enforce the free scan limit. We cannot read your address back out of it.
Your email, only if you give it
The basic result never requires an email. If you ask for the full report, we store your address together with the exact consent text you saw and when you agreed to it, and we send the report plus occasional coat-care emails through our email provider, ActiveCampaign. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. We do not sell or share your address.
Outbound links
Reports may link to DNA test kits and PetLovers products. Some DNA links are affiliate links, which is always disclosed next to them, and PetLovers earns a commission at no change to your price. When you follow an outbound link we record which button was clicked, and we strip the referring page so the destination site cannot see which report you came from.
What we do not do
No third-party analytics or advertising trackers on these pages. No selling of data. No using your dog’s photo for anything beyond producing your result. No account required for anything the tool does today.
Removal
Want your result or email removed? Contact us through petlovers.com and include the report link or the email address you used, and we will delete the records.
